Privacy Policy

Members share personal things here, so we take privacy seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• Account information: email address, username, optional display name, password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), and confirmation that you're 18+ and accepted our policies.
• Profile information you choose to add: photo, cover photo, bio, and Support Circles.
• Content: posts, drafts, comments, reactions, saved posts, Supporter connections, and private messages.
• Safety records: reports you make or that involve your content, moderation actions, appeals, and an audit log of staff actions.
• Technical data: limited logs needed to run and secure the service (for example rate-limiting records, kept for about a day).

Anonymous posts

When you post anonymously, other members see “Anonymous Brother” and nothing that identifies you, and the post never appears on your profile. We keep a protected internal record linking the post to your account so authorized moderators can act on abuse and safety concerns. Revealing that link requires a senior role, a written reason, and is recorded in our audit log.

Private messages

Messages are private between participants and are not end-to-end encrypted. Moderators do not browse conversations. When a member reports a message, moderators see that message and up to four messages before it, so they can understand the context.

How we use your information

• To run the community: showing your content, personalizing your feed based on your Support Circles, and delivering notifications.
• To keep members safe: reviewing reports, enforcing guidelines, and preventing spam and abuse.
• To contact you about your account (for example, email verification and password resets).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show advertising based on your conversations.

Search engines

Community posts, comments, profiles, and messages require sign-in and are marked so search engines don't index them. Only our public pages and editorial articles are meant to appear in search results.

Who can see what

• Your email is never shown to other members.
• You control who sees your full profile, your Supporter list, and who can message you in Privacy settings.
• Blocked members can't see your profile or content.

Your choices and rights

• Access & export: download a copy of your data at any time from Settings → Your data.
• Correction: edit your profile, posts, and comments.
• Deletion: delete your account from Settings. This permanently removes your profile, photos, posts, comments, reactions, connections, and the conversations you're part of.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. After deletion, some records — reports, moderation decisions, and staff audit logs — may be retained with your account link removed where needed for community safety, to prevent repeat abuse, or to meet legal obligations. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.

Service providers

We use trusted infrastructure providers for hosting, authentication, database, and file storage. They process data on our behalf under contract.

Age

Modern Brotherhood is only for people aged 18 and over.
